The seasonal pattern

Demand for liquid-fertilizer IBCs ramps in late February, peaks in late March through early April, and falls off sharply by mid-May. Co-op and retail distributors order their season's IBC inventory in December and January; producers running direct-to-grower programs often wait until February and pay a premium.

Why reconditioned dominates this segment

Single-fill, short-trip distribution is the perfect application for reconditioned totes. The fertilizer is in the tank for weeks to months at most; the chemistry is well-understood (UAN, ammonium thiosulfate, micronutrient blends); the grower's receiving infrastructure is standard. New is rare in this segment.

Plan ahead — or pay

IBC pricing in this segment can spike 30-40% during peak application weeks. Distributors that order from us by December for spring season pay shoulder-season rates and lock in inventory; those that wait until March pay premium and may not get the volume they need.
